How to Order a Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Holidays mean family dinners. Usually something a little more formal than usual. Your tablescape should include a centerpiece. Hopefully, a floral centerpiece. Here are some things to let your florist know, so that they can design the perfect one for your table.

Shape of Your Table
Round Table - Round Centerpiece
Oval or Rectangular Table - Long & Low Centerpiece

Table Size or How Many People Can be Seated Around the Table
This will let your florist know the size of the centerpiece or even how many centerpieces you may need on the table. If you do multiple centerpieces, consider letting your guests have one to take home at the end of the night.

Table or Home Decor
Make sure you let your florist know what colors or patterns there are in the China you will be using, tablecloth, even colors in the home. It really looks nice when we can coordinate. If you have time, bring in or send pictures of your dining room etc., so that we can see what we are working with.

Special Vase, Container or Dish?
Please let your florist know if you have any vases or containers that you would like to use that may be special to you. We would love to fill them with beautiful flowers designed just for the piece.

Will you be Using Candles?
Candles create a wonderful ambience to your holiday table and room. Let us know if you'd like them in the flowers or if you will be using tapers, pillars or votives on the table. We can assist you with the design. TIP: if using tapers, make sure you use bobaches (the cup or ring under the tapers to catch the dripping wax) even if the candles claim they are dripless. No one wants wax on their tablecloth.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- How long will my centerpiece last? Your centerpiece should last about 5 to 7 days. Flowers don’t last as long in floral foam as the do in a vase with water. The main reason for this is because it is hard to see what the water level is. Certain flowers, like roses and hydrangea need water and lots of it. So, when you get your centerpiece, put your finger in the arrangement and feel the floral foam. You should feel a puddle around the edges. If there’s no puddle, give it some water. Do this on a kitchen counter, since water will disperse out. It is recommended to water at least once a day. If there are wintergreen branches in your Thanksgiving centerpiece, then water twice daily. Wintergreens drink a lot.
